In Norse mythology, a pair of ravens named Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory) would fly all over the world and bring back information to Odin the Allfather by perching on his shoulders and telling him everything they saw and heard in their travels.

Ravens are intelligent birds in the Corvid family who form societies, remember faces, and in some cases can mimic human language; their association with Odin, who was revered for wisdom, speechcraft and intuitive vision, has many archeological sources and persists to this day.
