Freyja and Hildisvíni (Boar) Necklace
Freyja and Hildisvíni (Boar) Necklace
In Norse mythology, Freyja - goddess of love, magic, sex, battle, and death - was known to travel the Nine Worlds by either riding in a chariot drawn by two cats, or atop a golden-bristled boar named Hildisvíni.
Old Norse culture simultaneously feared and revered Wild Boar, which were powerful animals capable of killing even the most experienced hunters; Old Norse society considered the boar a symbol of fierceness in battle and held them in great respect.
This jewelry design is an homage to Freyja’s fierceness in all things and her reputation as a protector of warriors.
