Reading Guide: Elder Futhark Runes
One resource people ask me for a lot is books on runes -- specifically, which ones I like, and which have been helpful to me.
This is a short list to begin with but it's always best to start somewhere!
Runes For Transformation: Using Ancient Symbols To Change Your Life by Kaedrich Olsen
This book is a mix of history/education, information, and journal exercises. It's designed to take the reader on a start-to-finish journey of discovery, but it's a fabulous guide to the runes and their meanings that I reference all the time.
The Runes Guidebook by Bianca Luna
This is the first book on runes I ever bought, so it has a special place in my heart. It's a beautiful book, full of color and illustrations. I love Bianca's optimistic and positive take on each rune. It's important to note she uses non-"standard" spelling for some of the runes, which can be confusing at first.
I've always used runes intuitively, but this book is a fabulous guide for anyone looking to use runes in fun and creative ways. Diana knows her stuff and I like to use this book as a reference point when I feel stuck or in a rut with my own personal divination.
